On 24th June Friday morning I reached over to my phone at looked to check the results on the referendum. UK Voted out.
The tension was raw and real. We knew how much this was going to impact us but, to have one freight train hit you one after another was too much for anyone to bare. Following the announcement of David Cameron resignation from his post as Prime Minister, indeed was a sad moment and lost to all UK citizens. Something that I honestly never thought I would say or believe.
Since the results, I find myself helplessly checking up on the news updates. With so much looming in the UK and EU, it may as well be everyone in the world since Sterling has sent shock waves into the financial market.
I find myself being closer to my fellow friends and as it happens to be, friends that come from a back ground that are amongst the 27 nations that make up of European Union. And I am grateful for having to have met them. Sharing and discussing culture diversity, interests, knowledge and having great debates. Having a feeling of how great it is to be alive. Though, I not only fear for them but I also fear for myself and my country. The notion of freedom of speech, democracy somehow being revoked. I may have put this across in a severe level but this is truly, not the country that I knew as growing up....
Finding comfort in discussing everything that has happened, in hope to understand or learn something new from this. What I have come to realise is that we all come to the same conclusion for the cause and casualty. That those who did vote out, they all did it for the wrong reasons. Shame on Nigel Farage calling it an Independence day. Shame on you. For someone who has done nothing for this country and to expect to be hailed on the results of the referendum and even going as far as to embarrass himself and the British people. SHAME ON YOU!
I have since become bitter, angry, frustrated towards those that voted out.
There are debates in discussing the lack of education and studying of politics. Very debatable.
I have seen petitions for a second referendum, a petition for those that voted 'IN'. What I believe we should petition for is to stop this from happening again. We should put up a petition to penalise those that lie and forecast wrong data. But before anyone even starts one, why aren't they taking to High Court?
The night is dark and full of terror and we are in desperate need for a light to guide us all through this.
Till we come to any conclusion as to what our country and what the next Prime Minister plans for this country I will be overly consumed by this matter, day and night.
