Ahead of its time and no doubt one of the best films that has ever been created.
I speak of
Space Odyssey 2001. Im sure many would not disagree to that.
With putting off of watching this movie, I went to treat myself to two tickets at the
Prince Charles Cinema. With tickets being sold out every time its been on, its hardly a film that is unpopular.
Apes, who had known no better to what there existence meant. Idly watching the sun rise and seeing it set into the west. Time slips away, as were the days, months. Nothing changes after years, even centuries. Social bonding is not something that they had known. Only survival, being together doubled their chances of this.
Though, harmony does not last long as evolution calls. Natural ingenuity. The day an Ape reaches for a bone, grasped it with a tight grip, applied pressure against the skull of a dead animal. With rigorous momentum, he leaves it shattered. From that moment on, he declared himself the King of Apes.
A glimpse from the past that follows on into life which we believe to be 'The Future'.
Since the dawn of Apes. Man has transcended on from sounds and mastered the use of communication. We develop language, social bonding but, by using their intelligence to go places where no other creature has managed to go or to even dreamt of doing. Space Travel. Technology. Science.
As if watching over themselves, glimpse from the past and into the future. They watch their lives past by, how humans too evolved by the influence of technology. They encounter the Holy Grail of all things that truly matter. The search for 'The Meaning of Life'.
There is no way of knowing how Apes really lived, what is out there in space. Who created our universe and if there is really a God of some sort that oversees everything. And whether indeed that reincarnation does actually exist. Can we consider that a Computer Machine could answer that question for us? Would they tell us the truth?
As there is no way of disproving all of these hypothesis, they will always remain unanswered and could indeed be true.
As Science is the only way of discovering the truth. How will these facts change us? What if all that we know is wrong? Fear and excitement surfaces as we get closer.
Penetrating questions which requires some deep thinking. Space Odyssey 200, mind boggling much.
Pushing the boundaries, our internal search for truth, is undeniably one of the reasons why we humans are the strongest survivalists.
